Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce
Steelville, Missouri — the “Home of Hospitality”, “Floating Capital of Missouri” and “Gateway to the Ozarks” — These are just some of the phrases that describe the beautiful community of Steelville. Located approximately 8 miles south of Interstate 44 in the foothills of the Ozarks in Crawford County, Steelville is truly the small town with a big heart.
Three spring-fed-rivers, the Meramec, Huzzah and Courtois provide floating, rafting, and camping recreation for thousands of tourists each year. Fishing enthusiasts flock to streams filled with small and large mouthed bass, trophy trout and more.
Steelville is also home to the Meramec Music Theatre, which features the best in country music and golden oldies, as well as many special performances throughout the year. Also providing great music throughout the season is Wildwood Springs Lodge, which features various well-known artists.
Quaint specialty shops line the town’s main street, which has been restored to its early 1900’s appearance. There, you will discover thrift shops, collectibles, hand crafted knives, an art gallery and locally made crafts. Relax at an old-fashioned soda fountain with fresh baked goodies or dine-in at one of our tasty restaurants. Stay at a one of our local Airbnb homes, at a lodge that reflects its 1920’s glory, or at one of the many resorts that provide camping, cabins and RV hookups just outside of town. Steelville is not only a favorite tourist and vacation destination to thousands every year, it is also a fantastic location for special events, photos, and venues for all occasions.
